Overview:

Reducing VOC reductions while maintining durability and fluid-resistance were primary goals for Plasti Dip while developing a new flexible foam coating for wrestling mats. The foam coatings needed to be environmentally friendly, yet chemical resistant and easily cleanable. Challenge:

A new flexible elastomeric coating was required that would not only meet the new environmental regulations but would also continue to meet customer expectations and requirements for performance. This new coating would also need to meet reasonable cost and manufacturing process perimeters.

Solution:

By working closely with an industry leader, new state of the art flexible elastomeric coating systems were developed specifically for the foams, process and end use of the product. Not only did the new flexible elastomeric coatings provide a compliant, cost effective coating alternative but the overall coating performance surpassed the previous solvent base coating system in tensile, elongation and overall durability. Although other specialty coating manufacturers attempted to develop a water base coating alternative, Plasti Dip International was the only manufacture to successfully market its coating.
