If you’re like me, you smell funny. Wait…let me try that again. If you’re like me, you shower regularly so you don’t smell funny. When showering, I require a few accoutrements—soap, shampoo, that kind of thing.

And, if you’re like me, you have a less than spacious shower to shower in, which leaves very little room for the above mentioned accoutrements. The easy solution here is a shower caddy: basically, just a small metal basket in which to keep my shampoo, et al, so I don’t inadvertently kick them all over the place while I’m rinsing off soap suds.

But, over time, my shower caddy became tarnished and tainted. After so much soap and shampoo residue accumulation and the constant onslaught of running water (with its dubious mineral content), even the shiniest of shower caddies can start to look a bit crusty.

So, once again—Plasti Dip to the rescue! Using the Create Your Color Kit, I created a batch of Maynard G’s favorite, “slime lime green.” Then, new shower caddy in hand, I dipped the bottom half of the wire racking, as this area gets the most abuse (water, soap, etc., drip down, after all). I also dipped the handles, mostly for comfort’s sake. And it turned out great, as you can see.

Of course, the Plasti Dip will eventually get dirty due to the same factors that affected my old shower caddy. But, Plasti Dip is easy to clean, and, if need be, I can always peel off the Plasti Dip and do it again.

I didn’t exactly invent ice-nine, but I did create a simple solution to a pretty pesky problem. It’s yet another of Plasti Dip’s “1,001 Uses and Counting.”

While everyone’s got old favorites that make repeat appearances on the tree or around the house year after year, it’s never a bad idea to add a few new pieces to your holiday décor.

That’s where Plasti Dip comes in. With a little imagination, a few crafting supplies, and some Plasti Dip, you can create one-of-a-kind holiday decorations for your home. Below are a few ideas that you can easily replicate or use to get your own creative processes rolling.

•    From Blightdesign via Instructables: To make durable, lightweight hanging tree decorations, you can coat origami cranes—or other folded paper creations—with Plasti Dip. You can use the Plasti Dip Create Your Color Kit to mix holiday colors, or coat different sections with different colors for a supremely festive look!

•    Following the example of the good people at Apartment Therapy, you can use Plasti Dip to add holiday-color accents to items in any room in your home. And, because dried Plasti Dip will peel off of many substrates* without damaging the surface underneath, you can easily return the Plasti Dipped item to its original color after the holidays.

•    For dinner parties or other occasions, you can follow the ThinkCrafts.com’s lead and create holiday themed place markers or centerpieces with just pine cones and Plasti Dip.

There are many great questions in the universe to which mankind has long sought the answer. Among them: What is the meaning of life? Who shot Mr. Burns? How does one clean Plasti Dip?

For the first two, the answers are fairly simple: 42 and Maggie Simpson, respectively.

For the third great question, however, there are several answers.

Before we go too much farther, I should specify that I’m referring to the cleaning of applied, cured Plasti Dip. To clean up Plasti Dip while you’re applying it, just wipe it up with a wet rag or paper towel.

Now, as with most everything, Plasti Dip gets dirty. Depending on what it is you Dipped, that marvelous DIY rubber coating may need regular cleaning. But, no matter how often you need to wash it, Plasti Dip—like any truly great consumer product—is easy to clean.

A little soapy water is usually enough to do the trick. Windex and other similar cleaners work great, too. Or, to get it really good and clean, try some Goo Gone—it’ll have your Plasti Dip shining like a new penny! Plasti Dip is pretty resilient stuff, so almost anything you’d usually use to clean similar materials should work fine.

Tough though it is, there are a few cleaning agents you should steer clear of when cleaning your Plasti Dip. Many thinners and solvents can and will damage Plasti Dip (though some thinners, like naphtha, can be used to mix up your own spray-on Plasti Dip solution). Gasoline will also damage dried Plasti Dip. Also, I really have no idea why anyone would want to use gasoline as a cleaner.
